Q: i have a question: how does she sleep with no eyelids? does she have to be in a perfectly dark room? also, that damn wind chime on this page made me think i was hearing things again
A: She does enjoy sleeping under a blanket or in a dark room. However, she can sleep in a well lit room as well. She has one partial eyelid so when her eyes fall down -one eye is covered but the other is not. It doesn't seem to hinder her sleeping much at all.
PS- sorry for the wind chime making you think you are going crazy.

All for one and one for all.
My sisters are burrowers and as you may know, I enjoy a good nap under a blanket too. So after they crawled under the blanket- I quickly followed. I think three small animals could produce enough heat to keep a one bedroom apartment heated during an entire winter in just one afternoon of napping together. We are such a green family!
New Heights
Everything seems to look better from a foot off the ground. I found a new place to sleep... a gym bag! I sometimes crawl on boxes or the litter box or even a laundry hamper... but this was extra cushioned.

Chase's Background
a few have asked what happened to me. If you look at the very first blog entry called "Introduction" you can read up on how my story began. Use the blog archive on the right hand side of this page instead of hitting previous entry on the bottom of the page (that would take you a while).
I am soooo ready for the spring to be here. When it is nice outside and not too windy my beans let me hang out for a few minutes with them on the porch while they grill out. I love sticking my head through the bars on the porch and looking at the ground. what fun!!

I love cats, I absolutely do and I don't think it's wrong to rescue them, but when it comes to THIS - no. A cat shouldn't be healthy becaus of medicine, it should be healthy without it ): I'm sure you're taking good care of Chase, but still... wrong ):
He can eat by himself though? And how is the skin really in his face? And the "nose"? o_O I'm still very curious about him though.

I appreciate your concern for Chase. The medication is a maintenance for her eyes, just as some humans have insulin they must take to maintain their blood sugar. The bones that were her nose were broken so badly in the accident that she does not have them. That is why her face appears flat and her nose is no longer pointy like a "normal" cat. She does everything my other cat does (eat dry cat food, play, find and chew on crickets and other bugs) except blink. That is the one thing that she will never be able to do. I don't think that is a good enough reason for me to put her down when not being able to blink is not a serious health issue.

We try to find people to visit as a pet therapy animal to help them understand that just because Chase or other humans may have health disabilities or look different that they should not be judged harsher. It is OK to be different and many many people are special in their own way. It is always ok if you do not look just like what you see on the cover of Vogue or Cat Fancy (: .
Thank you for your concern and take care knowing Chase really is a well adjusted and a happy cat. The not blinking thing I am sure might be annoying if she knew any different. The accident happened when she was 6 weeks old and she is know almost 4 years old and is very well adjusted.

Q & A
I received a question regarding how Chase keeps her eyes from drying out.
Well, she still makes tears well so that keeps her eyes well lubricated but I use an artificial tear medication multiple times during the day to add extra moisture to them as well. And since she does not have eyelids, she also receives occasionally other eye medications (antibiotics and steroid drops) to keep her vision and eyes healthy as long as possible.
